I fell in love with the first book in this trilogy, Foundling in Then shortly after Lamplighter. I was very much in awe of the depth, detail and lore that DM Cornish had created in his world.
I loved the characters because they were none of them perfect yet very endearing, likable and admirable. When this final book was released, and I learned that it was the conclusion to a trilogy I was so upset. I eventually did listen to the entire story and have since then listened to all three books at least 4 dozen times. Sometime in or so I became fb friends with DM Cornish and he is so very humble and kind and engages with his readers and fans quite often.
Review of the Day: Factotum by D.M. Cornish
He replied shortly after and said that he agreed and that he had another book on the drawing board. So, if you are already a loving fan of these books that DM wrote and for which he created the most detailed and unique world then YAY US This series, the characters, the beautiful writing with some of the most creative and subtle metaphors and the absolutely outstanding narration by Humphrey Bower rank these books at the very top of my list.
That's saying something as I have over 1k titles on Audible alone. One note, people think this is a children's book series, and while I very much agree that children over the age of 8 or 9 will have their imaginations set ablaze when they listen to this, there is some violence that may not be appropriate for the little ones. Dont be fooled by this series this is no childs tale. Horrors both man and beast run through these pages and you will soar with telling of the tale of young Rosamund Bookchild.
Expertly illustrated by the author himself not that you can see this in an audio book open your eyes and mind to world of the Monster blood tattoo series you wont be disappointed. Well written and narrated. A tale that keeps you interested from first to last! Excellent and well worth the wait - but please tell me there'll be more to follow! I want to know what happens after this stage of life for our little Foundling. I would rank this series of stories right up there with Harry Potter - totally engrossing and completely unique. I found this book series when I was a mere boy, I read the first one and I instantly fell in love with the series.
Every day my thirst for the next book in the series grows. Well worth the read, Well worth the grand adventure into a whole new world.
The series was great overall, but something was lacking in the final book. Mr Bower's performance was excellent as usual.
I guess I just wished for more Remarkable trilogy! Epic tale! I loved this series - on par with the best of Tolkien. Unsurpassed narration. Incedible character nuance. Strong and articulate visual description. Strong female heroine with young protagonist on hero's journey with mixed background and identity.
Guys Lit Wire: The Foundling's Tale, Part Three: Factotumand a Contest
Mystical world and languaging within these stories. I especially loved Factotum. My highest recommendation.. I read it nonstop. A lovely story, I am sad to have it end. As much as I would more, the story ended as it should, my imagination to carry it on. An absolute pleasure to listen to. Help Centre. My Wishlist Sign In Join. Be the first to write a review.
